Catherine Casavant serves as coverage and monitoring counsel for primary and excess insurers with respect to directors and officers, errors and omissions and professional liability insurance policies. Ms. Casavant has represented insurers regarding the resolution of underlying claims and coverage disputes in securities class actions and shareholder derivative actions. In particular, she has extensive experience in representing insurers with respect to the complicated issues arising from large corporate scandals, the subprime crisis, stock-options backdating, mutual fund market timing and various issues arising from mergers and acquisitions. She has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediation, as a means to the resolution of complicated disputes.
In addition, Ms. Casavant has experience as counsel in a large variety of litigation including attorney malpractice actions, commercial matters, employment disputes, insurance coverage disputes and intellectual property matters, including copyright and trademark actions as well as other complex litigation. She received an LLM in trade regulation from NYU which was focused upon intellectual property issues.
