Mary Jo Barry is a 1978 graduate of Lafayette College and a 1981 graduate of St. Johns University School of Law. Mary Jo joined D'Amato & Lynch in 1981 and has represented directors and officers, errors and omissions and professional liability insurers, in hundreds of matters for over 25 years. Her clients include primary carriers, excess carriers and reinsurers. Her experience includes securities class actions, shareholder derivative actions, class and creditors' breach of fiduciary duty claims - including claims arising out of mergers and acquisitions, stock options backdating and bankruptcies - and consumer class action, employment liability, bankers' liability, mortgage lenders/brokers liability, investment advisor/mutual fund liability and professional negligence claims. Ms. Barry has also represented a number of carriers in drafting policies, endorsements, and coverage agreements. Ms. Barry has participated in dozens of mediations and arbitrations of these claims in connection with both the settlement of underlying claims and in connection with coverage disputes.
